Four Types of Retail Store Fixtures to Consider

In the retail world, how a retail store owner decides to display the products that he or she is selling is more important, if not equally important, than the products for sale themselves. Store fixtures give the store its own shape and personality, while making sure that the products are displayed in the most organized and attractive ways possible. The kind of store fixtures that are used, and the way they are used, can have a significant impact on the success of a retailer, no matter if you generally sell clothes, toys, sporting goods, electronics, or anything else that comes to the imagination.

High End Fixtures

Everyday Fixtures

Everyday fixtures are retail store fixtures that anybody can buy and install in their store. When talking about “everyday”, we mean fixtures that you would happen to expect in a typical store. These fixtures are meant to be affordable to any store owner, and are supposed to blend in with the rest of a store’s theme, color scheme, or aesthetics. Most stores, especially big box stores, go with everyday fixtures so that the fixtures make the store organized, but do not stand out when they do not have any right to.

High End Boutique Fixtures

These fixtures are some that will stand out. High end fixtures are meant to look beautiful and are supposed to serve as something worth looking at, in order for customers to visit the store again and again. From lights, to tables, to leather furniture outside the fitting room, these retail store fixtures are meant to give off the impression of a luxury shopping experience. This is how you can make your store look fancy, and you do not need to sell expensive products either in order to run such a store. High end boutiques generally appeal to women, but there are elements that can also make a men’s store look better, too. Examples of high end fixtures include sleek steel wall scones, burnished leather chairs, and intricate glass decorations.

DIY Fixtures

DIY fixtures are fixtures that you “Do It Yourself”. You can spend very little money on fixtures for as long as you or somebody you know can work to provide you with adequate fixtures. In order to build DIY fixtures, you need the resources necessary to have them in your store, first and foremost. Next, you need to have the proper materials necessary in order for the fixtures to blend in with the store, or else it will not look as appealing. Many people can design wood fixtures over any other material, but they have their limits to stores such as antique stores and tourist gift shops, unless changes are made to make these fixtures more classy and sophisticated.

Custom Fixtures

Custom fixtures are made to your expectations; they are built and installed just for your store in mind.  Custom fixtures are arguably the priciest kind of fixtures to buy, but whatever you want to have in your store, you can make it happen. Displays for irregularly shaped areas, mannequins doing unique poses, and decor that displays your logo in a professional manner are all examples of custom fixtures that many store owners would like to have. If you have a creative mind, then you know how you need your store to look, and odds are, you cannot achieve these results with any of the other three fixture types.
