Dressing a Mannequin

How do I dress this mannequin, the arms do not bend! It depends on which type of mannequin that you have. Most mannequins are fiberglass or plastic and have detachable legs, torso, and arms. To start dressing your mannequin remove the leg or legs, (if they come off) from the torso then add and undergarments, such as socks or tights. If you are displaying pants or shorts, pull them through each leg and attach the legs to the torso. Follow similar steps for putting on a shirt. If you are putting on a pullover type blouse feed each arm through the sleeve and hold them in place as you pull the shirt over the torso then attach the arms back on to the torso. A child mannequin often only has removable arms as they are smaller and not as tricky to dress.

Don't forget to steam the clothing and remove any tags before placing on the mannequin. Make sure to add accessories such as a scarf, some jewelry, shoes and other accessories that make a statement. For fun, you may want to include a dog leash, bottle of wine, a kite or some other toy to make it memorable and draw attention. Remember to view the mannequin from all angles to ensure that no tags are showing, and all your colors look good. This will help to make the statement that you want to make. Turning your displays into real life will make for a better display and you will sell more products.
