The Sycamore Tree - Baker City, Oregon - Here is an unsolicited email we recently received from one of our happy clients.Another retailer had contacted Jacki Adams from The Sycamore Tree in Baker City, OR with this question.I read and enjoyed the article about you and your store in this month's issue of Country Business. I saw in the article that one of the first changes to your "new" business was to institute a POS program. I was just curious if you would mind sharing the POS system you use and any thoughts about using a POS. We are a relatively small retailer (2500 sq feet) in a highly seasonal area and are lookingat installing a POS to help with inventory and profit control. However, I have many sleepless nights thinking that could be our worst nightmare! If you have time, I would really appreciate any experiences (positive or negative) you had when choosing and installing your POS and which system you are using. Thanks so much in advance!Here's Jacki's reply:Thank you for your e-mail. We purchased the Microsoft Point of Sale system that is compatible with windows. We absolutely love it. There are a few other stores in town that purchased other products (QuickBooks, etc) and they wish they would of gotten what I did. They are very knowledgeable and willing to help with any issue. In fact, we did a minor Microsoft software update last month that prevented us from being able to get into our Wine Club Manager (a Microsoft RMS add-in developed, sold, and supported by E ***** program purchased from E ****** a few years ago. After talking with their tech support for about an hour with no resolve (the new software update apparently installed a few password encryptions which prevented me from being able to get into Wine Club Manager), I was about ready to give up. Even though WCM was their product, they did not have an answer for the problem. I was told they would work on it and get back to me once their development people have a chance to play with it. As a last resort, I called ARS people and within 3 minutes they logged into my computer and fixed the problem. Thank you.

Sole Support - Tukwila, Washington - I want you to know of the excellent service I received from Christy Stanford of your Kent Office. I had ordered from another Seattle company some plastic bags and pens, imprinted with my logo, for a large convention in Chicago. At first, when the pens arrived, I was told by this company that the bags had been lost en route by UPS but that they would be in the next week. This went on for 2 weeks - when I asked them to reprint them, they said o.k. but when I called a week before the show to find out where they were, they said that their supplier had never been given the original order due to a glitch in their office and they would not be able to fill the order within the remaining time. When I called Thompson Merchandising & Supply, Christy not only was able to get a supplier in California to imprint the bags, but to ship them UPS to where I was staying in Chicago to get them there a day before the show started. This was exceptional service and I will order convention materials from Thompson Merchandising again.
Killer Designs Studio - Anchorage, Alaska - Shelly Caputo is great! She helped me with custom printing for labels - all via email and followed up to make sure everything was as ordered. Great customer service.
Schoolhouse Junction - Canton, Ohio - Another company had notified us that our order would not ship on time. We were opening in 7 days when I called Thompson. Brian was able to get us Displaywall product in time to open our store. We were astounded that someone lived up to a ship-date promise. We are happy to refer American Retail Supply to other retailers that we meet.

Orders are shipped the most economical way possible. If you require special shipping methods, please let us know. Many items can be shipped from suppliers across the country depending upon your location. Most items are shipped FOB Kent, WA. Residential deliveries will have a delivery surcharge imposed by the shipper delivering to you.

Freight Claims: When receiving items - please check contents for damage before signing delivery acknowledgement. Note any damage on the document. If your purchase arrives damaged, please contact the carrier for a freight claim. So that it doesn't continue, we need to know if the carriers we use are damaging product - so please call us to let us know what's happening. We also need to know how well the carriers are doing in taking care of claim, so again, let us know what's happening and if they're taking care of you. If you have problems with freight claims let us know and we'll do what we can to help.
